After obtaining a bachelor degree in Agro-Industrial Engineering at San Ignacio de Loyola University, I worked in a family business that sells food/feed products for the local market in the north of Peru (the country where I come from). One of my main duties were to buy and import equipment that was used for the company. This job motivated me to study a master degree that could combine my technical studies with my commercial job experience.
I finished my studies in Wageningen at the end of 2012. Although I obtained a master’s degree in “Food Technology” with a specialization in “Food Innovation and Management”, the job opportunities offered after my studies led me to follow a different path. I currently have 8 years of experience in procurement, mostly within the healthcare industry. I have experience preparing and evaluating technical proposals and managing the sourcing and contracting process for humanitarian organizations such as The World Bank, United Nations, EU and the Global Fund. I currently work for the NGO “Partnership for Supply Chain Management” which is contracted as Global Fund Procurement Service Agent (PSA) for the Global Fund.
At the end of 2022, I decided to apply for the Marina Scholarship Grant in order to specialize on what I currently do for my job. I am planning to get MCIPS certified (MCIPS = Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) granted by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Diploma (CIPS). This is an extremely highly regarded qualification, and is considered to be one of the most prestigious a procurement professional can achieve.
I am very grateful to have received the scholarship earlier this year. This scholarship has given me the opportunity to start my studies and fulfill my dream of developing further in my career.
