My passion lies in the combination of technology, medical care and science. Within this combination, I have the ambition to make a substantial contribution to the further development of clinical and technical research results to improve healthcare or its accessibility. The origin of this passion lies in the Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, which I pursued after my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. This technical field offered me, naturally curious and creative, what I was looking for: understanding and applying technical knowledge to improve medical care. I have always held on to this: first during my PhD research, and subsequently as program manager for research and innovation at the proton therapy clinic HollandPTC.
At the organisational level within HollandPTC, I started fulfilling my ambition by setting up an innovation programme. In addition, I want to further shape my ambition and accelerate innovation through collaboration within the European network of proton therapy centres.
However, to realise my plan, I need insight into methodologies from change management, stakeholder management and personal leadership. I want to use the grant to pursue the SBO Strategic Programme Management course. In addition, shaping innovation requires creativity. I want to apply the knowledge from the Design Thinking course to enable myself and others to tap into new ideas.
