About Sasha

I always wondered how the world around us works, including the human body, so I wanted to study physics. After my master’s, I worked briefly as an R&D engineer for a biotech company.
I decided to move to the Netherlands to start an industrial PhD project focused on the development of preclinical imaging scanners in nuclear medicine at the Reactor Institute Delft (TU Delft) and the preclinical start-up MILabs. After my PhD, I worked as a postdoc at the Dutch Cancer Institute.
However, after this short academic career I switched to the medical technical specialization clinical medical physics in the field of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Since 2022, I have been working as a senior medical physicist at the Medical Imaging Center of UMC Groningen, responsible for medical imaging equipment, personalized dosimetry and radiation safety of the nuclear medicine department.
This new role requires a wide range of business development, leadership and project management skills. To improve these skills and enable further career development, I have decided to do a part-time MBA in healthcare management at the University of Amsterdam, which will be co-funded by the Marina van Damme grant.
