As a child I was already drawing floor plans and wanted to become an architect. After finishing high school, I went to TU Delft to study architecture. During my graduation I did research on housing for people with dementia. Because I find it an interesting subject and with the aging population it is a very current topic, I wanted to specialize in this subject further. With the Marina van Damme scholarship, I therefore started to study Applied Gerontology at Windesheim in Zwolle. At the same time, I was working at an architectural firm that designs a lot in elder care.
After a while, I noticed that the field of architecture didn’t quite suit me. I am now on the other side of the table, assessing applications for building permits in the municipality of Deventer. This type of work suits me well and I hope to grow further in it.
